The Phaeacian Ships
11.05.2019-Homer composed the Odyssey near the end of the 8th century BC. The Odyssey is supposed to have taken place in the Bronze Age, approximately twelfth century BC.
In Homer’s epic story of Odysseus’s ten-year journey to return to his wife and son Odysseus encounters one challenge after another, including the wrath of the formidable God of the Oceans and Seas, Poseidon. The final stop on Odysseus’ voyage is the land of the Phaeacians, a seafaring people skilled at maritime-related tasks. The Phaeacian ships held steadily on their course, and even a falcon, swiftest of all birds, could not have kept pace with them as they cut their way through the water. The Phaeacians possessed remarkable ships. They were quite different from the penteconters, the ships used during the Trojan War, and they were steered by pure thought. According to Homer, the ‘ships’ were vehicles in black colour that could ‘fly’ over the sea. They didn’t have oars or a rudder, nor did they have captains to navigate them. The ships they could connect to the human minds and execute their commands, and they could travel under any condition; they were unsinkable. The ‘ships’ had advanced navigation systems with knowledge of all cities and all countries of the ancient World and could navigate easily under any condition. This ‘technology’ was given to them by the god Poseidon, their protector. King Alcinous says that Phaeacians carried Rhadamanthus to Euboea, “which is the furthest of any place” and came back on the same day. These ships operate like “flying boats”, which are lifted above the sea surface, equipped with four hydrofoils which remain in the water, thus minimizing flow resistance and leads to high speeds.
If one read this story a few years ago one might have thought that ships which could be driven and steered by thought was so crazy an idea that it would be a waste of time contemplating it.
Today we have reached the point where computers are successful in participating in the running of quite a few of the operations of a ship, both in port and at sea. Tomorrow ships sailing from A to B may be capable in doing so without the involvement of a human crew.
12.05.2019-The War of Troy [Iliad] has been a fascinating story for thousands of humans . It has triggered extensive excavations and caused numerous movies to be made. What is even more amazing is that almost an entire nation went to a war that lasted for ten years because one woman decided to run away with a man who was not her husband.
It is very likely that Helen run away with Paris and so it gave the Greeks the excuse to go to a war the purpose of which was, in reality, to expand the land area over which they had control and so to increase commercial and trading profits.
Many believed that all of this was just a clever story and nothing more, however, Hittite texts and subsequent archaeological findings tend to give credence to the epic stories Homer wrote 500 years after the actual events took place. Homer wrote his Iliad in the 8th century BC whereas the actual events are supposed to have taken place in the twelfth century BC.
It is most likely that Homer heard of the War of Troy through poems of various story tellers as these were passed down from one generation to the next. It is also likely that Homer had other sources of information relating to the great war and to the return trip home of Odysseus, one of the main Greek heroes. This is a sequel to the [Iliad] and it is called [Odyssey].
It is [Odyssey] that has presented us with some very intriguing events that arouse one’s curiosity, interest and fascination.
Earlier on we read about ships that were indestructible, capable of communicating with their captains through pure thought. Those ships were far more advanced than anything the world possesses today. They were more like star-ships and star-fighters. Meantime, the ship on which Odysseus was heading home was nothing more than a mere wooden penteconter that was propelled by the those who were in charge of rowing, among her crew, and by a single sail, weather permitting.
So, it would appear that not all of the hominins of the time were equal. In addition the various monsters that Odysseus and his crew encountered on their way home were of a nature that at best can be described as diversified.
15.05.2019-Supposing for a moment that nearly 14 billion years ago matter and energy bursts in existence in less than a second and everything was involved in the largest explosion ever, with galaxies, planets and stars becoming dispersed in the universe.
Eventually, temperatures cooled and oceans appeared. Bacteria formed early life and young demonstrations of life looked at the sun and started using photosynthesis.
Five hundred million years ago ferns and mosses start covering the with crops and trees making an entrance soon after.
Amphibians explode in the scene and the land itself drifts across the surface of our Earth. Continents crash on each other and mountains are formed. Rivers such as the Tigris and the Euphrates begin to take shape in the northern Persian Gulf.
Some form of civilization makes its appearance in Mesopotamia and in the Southern part of Africa. Hunter-gatherers are the first to hunt deer and buffalo.
General vegetation and wild grass support the lives of the early humans and animals. Farming of vegetables and animals becomes a way of life.
I have chosen not to become involved with markers for the various ages and events that took place in the deep past because through the results of today’s explorations and excavations of areas hitherto unknown we come across findings that send us to new vistas of events and theories.
The big question is how we appeared on earth and how we developed. Where we beings that came from other planets – which had developed advanced civilisations way ahead of what was happening on earth? Would it have been possible for spirits and wraiths to have come from somewhere out there that ended up wondering on our Earth. Spirits have neither volume, nor do they require any support as we humans conceive the nature of provision, sustenance, and care.
Is it possible or even likely that over the years spirits ended up transforming themselves to creatures made of flesh and bones, which, however, retained the capability to co-exist with their properties of the past?
I am thinking of a human body and brain that had to deal with gravity, hunger and thirst whilst it carried within it a spirit of the past. So we are looking at the bones, the flesh and the organs as our army that keeps us going in life. The body has some localised governments which, nevertheless, receive their major orders from our brains. However, the brain is nothing more than a central sorting office that does share a connection with the spirit. The spirit requires no food or any form of support and does communicate with the brain of the individual, regrettably though as time passes the conduit between brain and spirit becomes eroded, worn and less capable of passing data back and forth with the brain.
Our flesh, our bones and our organs, including our brains are subject to daily wear and tear and as we grow older, they start to fail. Failure may start by being small and so some of us remain alive until the day of a major breakdown. When that day comes the human activities start, one by one closing down. Once this process starts the spirit has no purpose to remain attached to its human residence and it will depart.
Spirits sometimes become separated from their bodies because of a permanent breakdown of their conduit to the brain. This, in itself is a catastrophic event, because the body loses the guidance and the virtuous and noble influence that it used to receive from its spirit and it becomes afflicted by earthly – low level habits – in other words it descends to an area of darkness where all possibilities of becoming a better human being seize to exist.
21.05.2019-So far, we have looked at historical events that have provided data on days and times of our distant past. Up until recent times historians, archaeologists and others who have spent their lives trying to look in our past made statements supporting the emergence of man somewhere in the past 100,000 years. In this segment we shall look at the ancient Crete and the first Cretan cities which appeared between 2100 and 1900 BC. In addition we shall not overlook the ancient city-state of Mycenae. The Minoan civilisation is based on a Cretan Palace culture which has had some influence from the peoples of Asia Minor, Mesopotamia and of their neighbours, by way of commerce accomplished by those sailing their ships to Crete from the ancient ports of the Black Sea, all the way south to where the civilisations of the Akkadians, Sumerians, Hittites, Canaanites, Babylonians Assyrians, Egyptians and possibly the Persians and Indians were influencing the progress the world was making by engaging in the exchange of goods.
It is also important to recall the stories we have been told about Daedalus and his son Icarus, the maze where Minotaur lived and where he met with his demise when Theseus set foot on Crete. We can perhaps accept that all these are mythological characters, however, we cannot dismiss them because mythology is the mother of history and it brings us historical events hundreds of thousands or even millions of years old. The details mythology brings to us are – sometimes – difficult to comprehend and the possibility does exist that those who passed mythological stories down to us have adorned events with ‘invented details’ to make such narratives all the more interesting. These are not cranky chronicles that I write just to fill electronic pages. They are an attempt to glue together data that become more believable as time goes by.
What is even more important is that old mythology continues to become clarified by new findings of those who have generously devoted their lives towards bringing to us a more factual description of the events that took place (and of the human beings that were involved in such stories) a very long time ago. The ancient peoples that we are aware of believed in gods that had descended to Earth from somewhere in the sky, but who – when upset with the deeds of the humans – used to fly away to the heavens. Today the question is ‘was this just a mythological account without any basis?’ Today, people know that the Earth rotates around the Sun and they have also witnessed man landing on the moon.
So if man can do this is it impossible that a civilisation much more advanced than ours had visited our Earth quite a few hundreds of thousands of years ago? I think it is logical for us to accept that we are not the only living beings in the entire Universe. It is equally easy to understand that WE ARE NOT ALONE. Some writers have said that large structures such as the pyramids as well as other large stone buildings have been built by visitors with advanced knowledge and technical capabilities, who arrived from outer space. I have no problems accepting this explanation, however, I would also argue that a human race that lived on our Earth millions of years ago may also have reached a point where machines had become totally obsolete, primordial and antediluvian as man went about his daily work using his astral body rather than his physical body.
This thought power would have been completely capable of producing the required food, buildings, or every object that was desired (such as cities, transports, energy stations, to name but a few). Our prehistoric ancestors had reached the higher levels of utilising the potentials that had been cultivated over time and were available within their inner senses and psychic means.
These ideas may appear to be far-fetched, but if our forefathers of antiquity were capable of conducting their daily lives at such advanced levels then the construction of huge buildings would have been one of their lesser achievements.
So is it possible that Homer had heard about our ancestors and of their achievements in much more details that we know of? Is it possible that the Phaeacian ships existed and behaved as described?
