A Work-Career In A Few Lines
A qualified Naval Architect with extensive knowledge of Marine Engineering through service at sea.
His work-career started as a Marine Superintendent, progressing to – shortly afterwards – the post of Chief Marine Superintendent with Ship Brokers in London.
Subsequently worked as a Marine Surveyor, Lloyd’s Agent and P&I Correspondent in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates and has served as an acting surveyor for most of the major Classification Societies with considerable involvement in Tug & Towage approvals and Salvage operations.
Eventually, became a Regional Manager of Lloyd’s Agencies and P&I Correspondents for the many offices of his employers in the Arabian Gulf, whilst based in Dubai.
At the same time, held the post of Regional Manager for the company’s Quality Assurance Programme.
In Dubai, served as the Chairman of the local branch of The Royal Institution of Naval Architects.
All in all, spent 33 years of active service in countries of the Middle East and through his position travelled the world markets successfully increasing his employers’ sphere of influence in respect of Cargo Insurance and P&I matters.
Has now returned to the United Kingdom and continues to be work-active.
Simultaneously, continues to serve The Royal Institution of Naval Architects as a member of its Council, concurrently being an Assessor of graduates who wish to became Chartered Engineers through Professional Review Interviews.
In addition to the foregoing has taken the time to write two technical books (1) on Draught Surveys, (2) on On-Hire/Off-Hire Surveys.
